| Kate and I were in the frozen north over the weekend visiting my Mum in The Cottage Hospital, Buxton. When I left home, about 30 years ago to live in the soft south, well, Worcester. It was for me like moving to the South of France. Buxton is one of the highest market towns in the country and as such has some of the most severe weather. During our stay it duly obliged and snowed, a lot. Today's work doesn`t reflect the cold season(most of the year in Buxton)but a well meant little gesture of health. This tiny hospital which felt like an old English film studio was warm and welcoming, I even got the impression that a Hattie Jacques Matron figure or Sid James Ambulance Driver was just around the corner. I like progress, but there has to be something said for best practice adapted from the past for a modern future, just because it`s old doesn`t mean it`s no good...news update Mum has returned home! | |||||||||
