Saturday Snow
Eugene Conway

With Saturday`s now useless lottery ticket safely in my pocket the snow really began in earnest. Squinting against the driving wind and snow produced a rainbow of colour. Today`s painting was cobled together using a few hastily taken blurred phone photo`s and a lot of memory recall. This has produced a kind of Constable meets Pollock image, have I just invented a new painting technique? I doubt it.

Limes and Aubergines
Eugene Conway

The supermarket seemed to have a lot of these the other day. Are they in season? Is there a season for anything now that we live in these open all hours times? On a different topic, I`m set to exhibit a few small works away from the internet. Saatchi has yet to notice me, and the Tate Museum, well that`s in London and such. Keep it local I say. The village Butcher Mr. Waller has afforded me a little space just above a selection of pickles and sauces. Art in unusual places, now that`s inspiring, where next?

Visiting Mum
Eugene Conway

Kate and I were in the frozen north over the weekend visiting my Mum in The Cottage Hospital, Buxton. When I left home, about 30 years ago to live in the soft south, well, Worcester. It was for me like moving to the South of France. Buxton is one of the highest market towns in the country and as such has some of the most severe weather. During our stay it duly obliged and snowed, a lot. Today's work doesn`t reflect the cold season(most of the year in Buxton)but a well meant little gesture of health. This tiny hospital which felt like an old English film studio was warm and welcoming, I even got the impression that a Hattie Jacques Matron figure or Sid James Ambulance Driver was just around the corner. I like progress, but there has to be something said for best practice adapted from the past for a modern future, just because it`s old doesn`t mean it`s no good...news update Mum has returned home!

Last Summer
Eugene Conway

I woke today listening to the rain outside, and it`s rained all day so far. Unable to paint in a warm climate I`ve opted to use a photo as a primary source. In some odd and snooty circles this use of the camera is frowned upon. But I`m from the school of-anything goes. It was great to try and reflect a little light and warmth from a season past, perhaps today`s picture will introduce some warmer weather and an early spring, even if it`s only here on the internet?

Glass Half Full
Eugene Conway

Well it is Monday a day to take stock. It`s always good to be the glass half full kind of Polly Anna spirit, so with that in mind let`s be positive out there and appreciate what we`ve got. So today with my preaching head on so to speak and soap box firmishly under foot, chin up there`s always a break in the clouds and the spring is only a month or two away. If all else fails then top up the other half and, cheers!

First Star or Red Sky at Night
Eugene Conway

The temperature here in the village has finally started to act seasonal, it`s flippin freezing. The trees just on the edge of Colwall form a striking silhouette against a bit of Shepherds Delight. As for the star, are we supposed to make a wish?

Interior by Candle Light
Eugene Conway

Another in my new series. I`m not trying to be clever or crude here, honest. Simply I`m recording aspects of our home after a fashion and not really starting with the most important rooms first. I may move away from this topic, but hope to add a few new scenes from time to time. Painting for me has become a bit like learning to sing, though this talent escapes me. Once the voice is more or less sorted out and a tune can be murdered, in my case, then there`s the question of what exactly to sing. So here I am looking for themes to paint and ways to render ideas. What better place for a tune than in the bathroom as the acoustics are always so good here, and a solo performance is always best.
