A Painting a Day |
Eugene Conway is currently working on an almost daily visual chronicle and diary. It is an internet based idea which started in the winter of 2008. He sees it as an opportunity to paint everyday motifs that have their root in the United Kingdom. The almost daily paintings are then diplayed on the website along with a short diary description and emailed out to everyone who has subscribed.
His chosen subjects range from the more obvious, England`s green and rolling landscape with its ever changing climate, to topics which might escape an artists brush, from the seasons apple and fruit harvest to the village butchers prize winning sausages; Red Robins in the winter and mulled wine by fire light, Autumn leaves and Match of the Day, Toffee Apples from Ledbury Fair to sizzling bacon and eggs from The York Cafe in Malvern Link.
Today's Painting has been SOLD Eugene explains: " ... as well as the portrait work I wanted to try something more immediate. I am intrigued by other, 'painting a day', artists on the internet, and have become inspired to follow this exciting trend; I particularly want to evoke a certain feeling of life in " Blighty", brown sauce, Marmite, fish n`chips, warm beer, darts down the pub, Coronation Street, whatever. The Mediteranean has its sunshine, California may have glamour and so on, but England ? Well, a trickle of ideas for subjects quickly turned into a flood of possibilities. All I have to do is get on with it...Wish me luck!"
